Nollywood: Igbohood, Hausahood, Yorubahood?

Just last week, I came across an article online where I got to know that the Yoruba movie industry are sort of creating the Yoruba movie scene parlance, Yorubawood. I could not laugh out this unwholesome patois. For God's sake, what we know Nigeria for is Nollywood, not Yorubahood, Hausahood, Igbohood or 'anytribehood'.
I heard they (Yoruba movie makers) were of the complaint that Nollywood does not apply nor exist to their advantage. So, it was pertinent to carve out a niche from the Nollywood base. SMH#
Wait a minute, there are more than 250 tribes in Nigeria. Does this then means that other tribes who feel unsatisfied with the benefit (where is the benefit sef) Nollywood tends to offer or is offering.

If you want your life to be more valuable, you must realistically ask yourself how much you are worth, which should be calculated thus:
Deduct all the tax and government dues you pay. Divide your total take-home after tax by the total number of hours you work in a year. Whatever it results is what one's hour is worth.Matthew Ashimolowo

Hannah Robertson, Age 9, Chastises McDonald's CEO Over Junkfood

Still in the mood of celebrating children, 9years old Hannah Robertson has become a celebrity owing to her unimaginable effrontery to confront the CEO of McDonalds, Don Thompson, at McDonald's annual shareholders meeting in Chicago on May 23.
- "There are things in life that aren't fair—like when your pet dies. I don't think it's fair when big companies try to trick kids into eating food."
- "It would be nice if you stopped trying to trick kids into wanting to eat your food all the time."
- "Mr. Thompson, don't you want kids to be healthy so they can live a long and healthy life?"
These are direct quotes from Hannah Robertson.
Thompson's response to Hannah?
"We don't sell junk food."I look forward to a time like this in Nigeria when children's voices will count, when their opinions will be carefully observed and given due consideration.

OLAMIDE vs DAGRIN: WHO IS BETTER?

Olamide and Dagrin are two Yoruba lyrics phenomenon, who have definitely carved a niche for themselves. While the former is still alive, the latter has gone to the great beyond, but his memories still lingers. That is why I thought of this sort of comparison. Especially, considering the fact that Olamide is now the rave of the moment. Just like Dagrin became a household name in the Nigerian music industry, "Badoo", as Olamide is usually fondly called, has as well broken and made his way to the top of the game. "Badoo" has now become a trending slang among Nigerian youths. Even my 1year old nephew always mutter "First of all, bend down low", one of Olamide's popular songs.
Would Olamide really be the rave if Dagrin had been alive? Or would there have been a stiff competition between these two geniuses?
While still musing these, I checked through my contacts on BBM, to check what they are up to, I saw something that got my attention...found out that someone, Whale, had actually dissed Olamide, calling him a fake Dagrin. I no fit laugh for Nigerian music industry o...Everyone seeking for cheap popularity.
Listen to the song here
Anyway, I wouldn't want to do a lot of exposition, let's here what you have got to say.

Yesterday was actually my birthday, not today. That explains why I couldn't come online. I was being showered love and admiration by family members, colleagues and friends. Oh! Even corporate organisations made my day too.
Hopefully, I would have my birthday celebrated in Dubai next year, sponsored by Ayiri...*winks* You still don't know Ayiri? The rich guy that sponsored 2face's Dubai wedding now...ehen!

JOKE OF THE DAY: BIBLE VERSE TO SUPPORT BRIBERY

On Lagos-Ibadan
expressway, a pastor met a team of policemen who wanted 'somtin' from
him. Since he was not prepared to play their games, they asked for his
papers and having combed through everything without any offence to nail the
pastor, they asked him 2 open his bonnet. Against what was written on
paper, letter U was written in such a way that it resembled V. That was
all the OC needed to shout: "stolen vehicle".
The Pastor sensed trouble, hence he told the OC he were a Pastor. Then the OC said, "If you be pastor true true, open your bible to Matthew 5:25-26". The Pastor opened and read thus:
"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to a judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid d last penny."
The Pastor quietly made an "offering" of N100 to his newly found "preacher". End of service! Go in peace and argue no more, said the OC.

Good news to all Gmail users...Google is getting better every passing year and as well locking horns with brands who had been dominating the various market that it is constantly entering. This time, it is the financial world that Google is about to delve into.
Google Wallet was launched two years ago, but it could not get wireless carriers and phone manufacturers to install Near Field Communication technology. That has now become a forgotten issue...
Now Gmail users, can attach money just the way they attach files...I can't wait to use this.
Here is another thing, if you linked the Google Wallet to your bank account, then you receive transactions for free. Those using debit or credit cards pay a 2.9% transaction fee, and transactions are limited to $10,000.
Now, Nigerians and other countries deprived by Paypal can now sing for joy...cos GOOGLE WALLET IS HERE!

Richard Swanson hoped to create history by dribbling a soccerball through 11countries to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.
Well, the long and short story is that the dude is dead. Swanson got hit by a pickup truck on the Oregon Coast while walking south along US Highway 101 near the city limits.
This Sunday is his birthday. In fact, a surprise party had been planned for him. He had been between jobs before he got wind of the One World Futbal project. He was excited to have heard of the adventure. He has always wanted.

This will make it achieve the company's long had vision to make BBM a multiple-interface application like other messaging applications already in the mobile market such as Whatsapp, Viber, Tango etc.
Well, don't over-rejoice, before your Android, iPhone or iPad could run BBM, make sure that the operating system run by your Android is Ice Cream Sandwich while that of your iPhone and iPad is iOs 6.

MOST EXPENSIVE CAR IN THE WORLD, COSTS N533m

Lykan Hypersport, the first Middle East supercar is set to hit the market at the Qatar auto show with a whooping $3.4million cost.
Lykan is a product of WMotors, a Dubai based auto firm. The current model of the car lacks an interior and drivetrain, but will be powered by a midship flat-six engine from RUF, the company famous for custom Porsches.
The engine is said to produce 750 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, which could be enough to make the Lykan Hypersport’s claimed 242-mph top speed plausible.
The headlights will feature diamond-encrusted LEDs, while the hood will be gold-plated – the perfect complement to the rest of the car’s lightweight construction.
Can a Nigerian actually buy this kind of car when the sales commence? I wouldn't be surprised too, if bought by any. Afterall, Obat oil's Chairman, Oba Fredrick Obateru, became the first black man to acquire the 2014 Bentley.

HERE IS GOOGLE'S $1500 EYE GLASS THAT DOES EVERYTHING

Google has developed a glass that does it all. The glass is billed to be able to search the Internet and also show you anything you need, right in front of your eyes, from maps of where you are to the weather forecast if you look up. You can connect the glasses to a phone via Bluetooth and use the phone's 3G or 4G connection. There's also a camera on the front that can take photos of whatever you are seeing; you can share the photos instantly.
At the end of the month Google will hold an event for software developers. The developers' version of the glasses, which cost $1,500, are expected to be available to software makers later this year.
I wouldn't mind having this glass. With all sincerity, all media persons need this glass. It's high time journalism goes techy.

Shakira and Barcelona FC lovebird, Gerard Pique, have added a baby boy to their love story according to the Colombian's official website.
“We are happy to announce the birth of Milan, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain,” the statement read. “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification."
To you Barca fans, I learnt the baby would follow his father's footsteps to become a footballer in Barcelona. When did Barcelona start contracting babies? Na una sabi.
Congratulations Shakira.

NORWAY TOPS LIST OF WORLD'S HAPPIEST COUNTRIES

Six years ago researchers at the Legatum Institute, a London-based
nonpartisan think tank, set out to rank the happiest countries in the
world. But because "happy" carries too much of a touchy-feely
connotation, they call it "prosperity."
So who are the happiest people in the world, as measured by Legatum?
Norway takes the crown, followed by Denmark and Sweden (which
leapfrogged Australia and New Zealand this year). Rounding out the
Scandinavians is Finland, just a few steps behind in the seventh spot.
Luxembourg is the healthiest nation on Earth. Iceland is the safest. Switzerland has the world’s best economy and governance, according to Legatum.

Meet Valeria Levitin, world's thinnest woman

Valeria Levitin, 39, weighs only 56 pounds and is currently the world’s thinnest woman. She also happens to be one of the saddest and loneliest women in the world. She is fighting for her life, but because of websites that encourage the anorexic lifestyle, she has become an unwitting idol of many teen girls -- and even gets fan mail regularly.
Presently, she is hoping to be a mother. I then got musing that is there a sane guy that would want to have her as wife? Did I say wife? I meant a girlfriend jor.
But on a serious note now, guys, would you want to have someone as thin as Valeria? And ladies, would you want to be as thin as Valeria?
