UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROUND OF 16 FIXTURES

The draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Thursday, and some enticing ties await in the first knock-out stage.

Primera Division champions Real Madrid have been paired with Manchester United as Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford.

Furthermore, 2011 winners Barcelona will have to deal with Italian giants AC Milan in what promises to be yet another mouthwatering tie.

Last season's finalists Bayern Munich take on Arsene Wenger's Arsenal as they aim to make it to their third final in five years.

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain have been pitted against Valencia, whereas 2004 winners Porto lock horns with Malaga.

Serie A powerhouse Juventus will have to deal with Celtic in the first knock-out stage, while Schalke meet Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Finally, German champions Borussia Dortmund take on Ukrainian titans Shakhtar Donetsk.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be held on March 15, and the tournament concludes at Wembley Stadium on May 25.

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH TUNDE OF STYL-PLUS

It is no news again that Tunde has deserted his first love, Styl-Plus to go solo, thus establishing his record label and a stage name, Nativeboy. In fact, Styl-Plus with just Shifi and Zeal left, will be releasing a new single, Ale Oni (Tonight) in the coming weeks.

Up till now, no one is in the know of the actual reason for the sleek singer to have deserted his colleagues. Side talks have it that Tunde and the rest of the gang seem not to have the same musical passion. Hence, he felt the need to forge ahead. A big round of applause for you, Tunde, for making this bold decision. I love how you have decided to up your game. Seriously, Styl-Plus have been too quiet from my musical perspective. Since 2003 that the group hit the airwaves, we are yet to hear any big bang from the group.

Tunde, though I commend your decision, it would be also okay to reprimand you for deciding to bear the name NATIVEBOY…why would you use BOY? Even Saucekid had to change his name to Sinzu. He has done a plethora of things just to make the new name Sinzu sink, yet people still find it hard to identify him with the brand.

Tunde, I guess you still need a brief course on branding. Well am available if you don’t mind. But it aint free o.

NIGERIA'S GOT TALENT: 8-YEAR-OLD AMARACHI WINS 10MILLION NAIRA

Seriously, the future is here. It aint tomorrow. Who could have imagined that 8year-old Amarachi Uyanne would be the first-ever winner of Nigeria’s Got Talent. She was even the youngest among the 10 finalists.

Amarachi, a dancer from Benin City, Edo State, outshone nine other contestants and was crowned winner in front of a studio audience yesterday, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the grand finale held at Bamako Studios, Ikeja, Lagos.

Judges Kate Henshaw, Dan Foster, Yibo Koko all seemed pleased with the result.

She walks away with a cash prize of N10m, amongst other prizes.

POPE OPENS A TWITTER ACCOUNT @pontifex

You can now follow the pope on twitter. Pope Benedict’s handle on Twitter will be @pontifex.

The Vatican said on Monday that the pope will start tweeting on December 12, the feast of the Madonna of Guadalupe. The tweets will be going out in Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Arabic and French. Other languages will be added in the future.

He already has 1.2 billion “followers”. In case you are expecting him to follow you too on Twitter, you had better take your mind off it...cos he won't be following anyone.

The first papal tweets will be answers to questions sent to #askpontifex.

The pope’s Twitter page is designed in yellow and white – the colors of the Vatican, with a backdrop of the Vatican and his picture. It may change during different liturgical seasons of the year and when the pope is away from the Vatican on trips.
